The Education System is in a mess like your knitting!

I had quite a lengthy conversation with a Coloured Gentleman who has been an educator for a number of years. He studied during the most heated political times at UCT. We talked about the segregation of colour, how there were different education systems and institutions depending on colour, during the previous government. These institutions regulated the social level people could attain according to their colour. There was a quota system which allowed for some mixing of colour in some institutions. He was allowed to attend a white institution. The conversation unpacked how the recent government has not been serving the people by producing inadequate education. The problems seem very deep seated. Pupils arriving at high school are unprepared and cannot deal with levels required. Students attending tertiary level are barely literate and poorly skilled.
