Comment;
education in this country needs steroids and teeth! The values that
it is based on are skewed due to a lack of spiritual context and
content (I understood this to be non religious). The outcomes are
therefore a focus on form (qualifications) above the growing and
developing of young people’s moral fibre and human connectedness.
This contributes to a fractured, non-caring and materialistic society
which places the latest model handset higher than the well being of a
neighbour.
Early
learning needs to be done in mother tongue as this assists in the
integrating of formative knowledge, reinforcing and growing local
cultural heritage. Second languages [English] are essential and need
to be developed at a slightly later stage [than formative], but
developed until adequately literate before graduating.
She has a
critical attitude toward the growing private schooling industry as
possibly having vested interested in the public schooling remaining
degraded, thus fueling need for more private education. Also a
questioning at weather small classes and intense individual attention
(teacher/pupil ratio) adequately prepares the learner for life, and
tertiary education where lecture student ratio is vastly different.
