A conversation with a German teacher: schooling in
Germany is free, including University.
The German Education Department prides itself in its
high level of education.
There are also private schools, which are quite
expensive. These private schools tend to cater for a more ‘international
student’ and are usually taught in English.
German schools are global, with a German curriculum and
taught in German.
In Germany a phenomena is developing which is causing
some social disturbance;
In some classes there are instances where German ‘natives’
are the minority. Therefore German language is not the mother tongue of the majority
of the students. Teachers need to thus lower the standard to accommodate non-German students, creating issues with standards, cultural identity and heritage.
