I took the knitting with on a Zen retreat that I participated in this weekend. Again the issue of private and public space arose, that the piece appropriately fits into public space, and this centre is not public. I had one conversation before we went into silence. It was with a woman who had schooled in Germany. There the public education system is of a high standard, resulting in very few private schools. She feels her education was solid and sound with, perhaps, too much emphasis on rational academia. She feels that there is room to include more creativity and non linear attitudes to learning.
